Five And A Half Minutes Til Midnight

It’s five and a half
minutes
til midnight,
doing our best
to stay alright
and also outraged,
outraged at the
insistence of some,
to hang on to
the old smoking gun
of patriarchy.

And yet midnight
doesn’t have to be
a terrible catastrophe,
instead we can bring
ourselves together,
stop taking sides,
see our shadowy perceptions
of each other
are but shadowy reflections
of our own selves.

For we are all part of
each other,
and we all need love.
Those who keep pushing
love away
need it most of all,
crying for love they be,
yet they know not
what love is.

Now that it’s five
and a half minutes
til midnight,
we’d best heed
the wake up call,
and join the Love
Revolution,
please don’t
go back to sleep.
